Mike Scullion

Mike has been a Wood River Valley resident for over 17 years. Originally from the music rich city of Philadelphia, and after having spent 7 years as a Marketing and Sales Representative for Dow Jones and Company in Princeton, NJ and Los Angeles, Ca he is lucky enough to have found his home in Idaho.

Born the middle child of five strong-willed, outspoken, door-slamming siblings, I was a super sensitive kid with exceptionally high emotional intelligence, and I needed every ounce of it to navigate the minefields of my eccentric childhood household. It was the 1970s, our living room often transformed into an alternative psychology arena with bataka wielding bioenergetic disciples. Many weekends were spent at assertiveness trainings, dream workshops, EST, and meditation retreats.

Off to college at UCLA, I got a degree in psychology, hoping to make a little sense of the “craziness” of my youth. After a short stint in advertising with Saatchi and Saatchi, I headed east to Georgetown University for a law degree, followed by some rather enlightening years as a divorce mediator, observing good people at their worst. Back in Los Angeles as the proprietor of a coffee shop, I served solace by the espresso shot, until marriage landed me in Palo Alto at the height of the first dot.com boom. I worked as a business communication and strategy coach, helping high growth startups and large enterprises to unleash their organizational potential.

When my husband and I moved our young family to the mountain town of Sun Valley, Idaho, it was again time for reinvention. I am currently the creator and host of the popular weekly radio shows, “That Got Me Thinking,” “Make It So” with Dr. Anny Yusim and “Voices of the Valley.”

Scott Carlin

Scott Carlin is an angel investor, advisor and board member to a variety of companies and nonprofit organizations. He is actively engaged in independently creating, producing and distributing television and film projects, his principal endeavor over the last thirty years. He is a transactional advisor to independent producers and media companies on content development distribution strategies and new media investments.

Prior to taking the entrepreneurial plunge a few years ago, Scott served as President of HBO Domestic Television Distribution. During his seven years in that role, Carlin generated close to $1 billion dollars in new revenue with recordsetting deals for The Sopranos, Sex & The City, The Wire, Six Feet Under, Band of Brothers and other HBO content.

When Carlin left HBO he partnered with Rosie O’Donnell to produce her talk show, “Rosie” for the OWN Network. He also produced the first ever feature length documentary about the life of Deepak Chopra, “Decoding Deepak”.

Currently, Scott is producing a documentary based on the bestselling book, “Simplicity Parenting”, written by Kim John Payne. He is partners with Dr. James Rouse in Light Bros. LLC., a multimedia and nutritional product company, a venture oriented around The 24-Hour Practice of Think, Eat, Move, Thrive. He is the President and board chair for KDPI-FM, a community radio station in Ketchum, Idaho. He serves on the boards of the Sun Valley Wellness Institute, HRTS: Hollywood Radio & Television Society, Green World Campaign and Carpe Paddlum, a Connecticut-based nonprofit he co-founded in 2001 that manages, Kayak for a Cause. He is an advisor to Wild Gift, an incubator for young social entrepreneurs and MindMaze, a virtual reality company developing technology for neural immersive experiences.

Prior to HBO, Carlin was Executive Vice President for Warner Bros. Domestic Television and LorimarTelepictures. He was President of the Media Group for Digital Convergence, a startup convergent technology company that raised $200 million in funding from Belo, Young & Rubicam, Radio Shack, Forbes, Scripps Howard Broadcasting and others. He began his media career in the news consultancy division of Frank N. Magid & Associates.
